One out of one is always a good stat to have in any sport, but for up-and-coming Korn Ferry Tour rookie Micheal Brennan, the reality is 36 holes away.
The last player to win on the PGA Tour in his first start was Russell Henley at the 2013 Sony Open in Hawaii, but for a non-PGA Tour member to win in his first start is unprecedented.
After a red-hot fall on the PGA Tour Americas while winning three of the last four events to earn his Korn Ferry Tour card, the 23-year-old Brennan could completely bypass that tour and compete at the highest level.
Sitting in the top 10 is a slew of young talent and a European stalwart, all looking for their first PGA Tour win.

The tightly bunched leaderboard looks to change someone’s year as there’s not a top 100 player within three shots besides defending champion Matt McCarty.
On the back of his second round 65, Matt McCarty jumps up 10 spots in his strong pursuit to defend his title in the desert.
A couple of players to keep an eye on Saturday are Ole Miss grad and PGA Tour rookie Jackson Suber, whose rounds of 66 and 67 put him in second place, and PGA Tour University winner and North Carolina grad David Ford. Both players’ consistent play will bode well as the leaderboard continues to bunch up.
Second round play was suspended yesterday due to darkness and will resume on Saturday at 10 a.m. ET.
