Conor Daly Lands Full-Time IndyCar Return With DRR for 2027

Conor Daly will return to full-time IndyCar racing in 2027, driving Dreyer & Reinbold Racing’s No. 24 Honda as DRR launches a new era.

Conor Daly is getting another full-time shot in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, and this one comes with a team trying to build something bigger than an Indianapolis 500 program.

Dreyer & Reinbold Racing announced Saturday that Daly has signed a multiyear deal to drive its new full-time No. 24 entry beginning in 2027. The team will also switch to Honda power as it returns to a complete IndyCar schedule for the first time since 2012.

It’s a significant move for both sides.

Daly, 34, has made 133 career IndyCar starts, recording one pole, six top-five finishes and 26 top-10s. His best career result remains a runner-up finish at Detroit in 2016, and he won the pole at Iowa Speedway in 2020.

He also has history with DRR.

Daly drove for the team in the Indianapolis 500 in 2024 and 2026, finishing 10th and 12th. Across those two starts, he led 26 laps, giving the organization firsthand experience with how he works inside the car and with engineers.

Now that relationship is becoming a full-season commitment.

DRR secured the foundation for its return in July by purchasing an IndyCar charter from Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing. That deal positioned the Carmel, Indiana-based operation to run a one-car program in 2027, with Daly now confirmed as the driver.

The Honda partnership is another important piece. DRR previously ran Honda engines from 2005 through 2011 before shifting its focus largely toward Indianapolis 500-only entries.

For Daly, the deal brings stability after a career that has often involved partial schedules, one-off opportunities and short-term rides. He most recently competed full time with Juncos Hollinger Racing in 2025 before returning to DRR for the 2026 Indy 500.

There’s also a deeper emotional angle behind the comeback.

DRR founder Dennis Reinbold died in June at age 65, and the team’s leadership has framed the full-time return as a continuation of the Reinbold family’s long history in open-wheel racing.

Derek Reinbold said Daly is the driver the organization trusts to lead that next chapter.

For Daly, the opportunity is simple: turn familiarity into results.

DRR already knows what he can do at Indianapolis.

Beginning in 2027, both sides will find out what they can accomplish together every weekend.
