Lions Humble the Browns: Flacco Falls, Goff Glides, Raymond Rips One

The Detroit Lions put on a clinic Sunday, overwhelming the Cleveland Browns 34–10 in a game that showcased explosive special teams, opportunistic defense, and a steady dose of Jared Goff-to-Amon-Ra St. Brown. With the win, the Lions improved to 3-1 on the season, while the Browns slid to 1-3 amid mounting offensive struggles and injuries.

🔥 Goff, St. Brown Light Up the Scoreboard

Jared Goff was efficient and composed, completing 16 of 27 passes for 168 yards and two touchdown strikes to All-Pro receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. The pair connected late in the first half on a 2-yard score, then again in the fourth quarter on an 8-yard dagger that helped seal the win.

St. Brown continues his red-hot streak with six touchdown catches in the past three games, firmly establishing himself as one of the most dangerous weapons in the league.

🌀 Special Teams Sparks Momentum Shift

The Browns managed to hang around until early in the fourth quarter, until Kalif Raymond flipped the field and changed the tone of the game. His electrifying 65-yard punt return touchdown stretched the Lions’ lead to 27–10, demoralizing a Cleveland team already struggling to move the ball.

It was a game-changing moment and a reminder that Detroit’s special teams are a threat in their own right.

🛡️ Detroit’s Defense Feasts on Flacco

Cleveland opened the game with a sharp 88-yard touchdown drive capped by a 1-yard run from Quinshon Judkins, but that was about all the offense the Browns could muster. Detroit’s defense clamped down, holding the Browns to just 44 total yards for the rest of the first half and forcing three turnovers from quarterback Joe Flacco.

Flacco finished 16 of 34 for 184 yards with two interceptions and a lost fumble that set up another Lions touchdown. Rookie QB Dillon Gabriel saw late-game action after the result was no longer in doubt. His only pass attempt fell incomplete.

🧱 Kicking It into High Gear

Detroit’s offense was supported by two long-range field goals from kicker Jake Bates, who nailed 48- and 58-yarders in the first half to help the Lions build a commanding 20–7 halftime lead.

🤕 Injury Updates

  • Browns: Offensive tackle Jack Conklin remained out (elbow), and with Dawand Jones lost for the season (knee), the Browns’ line offered little resistance. WR Cedric Tillman (hamstring) exited in the first half.

  • Lions: Cornerback D.J. Reed (hamstring) was carted off in the second half. CB Terrion Arnold (shoulder) and special teamer Jacob Saylors (hamstring) also left with injuries.

🗓️ What’s Next

  • Browns: Face the Vikings next Sunday in London, hoping for a reset across the pond.

  • Lions: Travel to Cincinnati to take on Jake Browning and the Bengals.

Bottom Line:
The Lions delivered a statement win, executing in all three phases while exposing Cleveland’s lack of offensive rhythm and depth. With Goff in command and St. Brown red-hot, Detroit looks like a team on a mission.
