Jenny Shin emerged from a demanding week at Dundonald Links with the Scottish Open trophy, finishing the championship at 9-under par to secure the second LPGA victory of her career.

The South Korean golfer handled the unpredictable nature of links golf better than the rest of the field, navigating firm turf, awkward lies and changing conditions without allowing one difficult stretch to derail her title bid. By Sunday evening, Shin had created enough separation to complete the job and celebrate a memorable win in Scotland.

Her victory came on a course where patience mattered as much as aggressive shot-making. Dundonald Links punished missed targets throughout the tournament, forcing players to manage their golf balls carefully and accept that even quality shots could produce difficult outcomes.

Rather than relying on one spectacular burst, she built her winning total across four rounds and stayed composed as the pressure increased. That steadiness became especially important during the final round, when chasing players needed to take risks in an effort to close the gap.

Leona Maguire produced one of Sunday’s more eventful scorecards, shooting a 2-under 70 to finish tied for eighth at 1-under overall. The Irish star made five birdies on the opening nine, briefly generating the type of momentum that could have sent her charging up the leaderboard.

However, a bogey and double bogey on that same side prevented Maguire from converting her hot putting into a truly low round.

She responded with another birdie at the par-5 14th, but gave the stroke back with a bogey at No. 16. Her closing 70 secured a third top-10 result of the season, even though she finished eight shots behind Shin.

Maguire’s performance offered another sign that her game is trending in the right direction. Still, the day belonged to Shin.

Winning on a links course demands more than clean ball-striking. It requires imagination around the greens, precise distance control and the ability to remain patient when the weather or terrain produces an unfair bounce.
