You’d think that the replacement punter is the last thing on the collective minds of the Cleveland Browns right now, especially with all the other concerns.
Yet, here we are.
Corey Bojorquez was limited in practice on Wednesday but a full participant on Thursday after injuring his right ankle during a blocked punt against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

“We’ll see,” Cleveland’s special teams coordinator Bubba Ventrone told reporters on Thursday when asked about his punter’s availability for Week 3.
Ventrone also revealed that had Bojorquez not been able to continue on Sunday, place kicker Andre Szmyt would have handled punting duties.
“Browns ST coordinator Bubba Ventrone on the blocked punt vs. Baltimore: ‘We gotta protect better, block better. It’s pretty obvious what happened.’ Ronnie Hickman was the punt protector on the blocked punt and was replaced afterward by Grant Delpit,” Daniel Oyefusi posted on X.

As bad as the offense in Cleveland is right now, the punter might be one of the most important pieces. A good punter can easily flip the field on the opponent after a slew of 3-and-outs by the Browns’ offense. Bojorquez has already posted seven punts in two games this season and is averaging 45.7 yards per kick with three inside the 20-yard line.
While the Browns reportedly hosted free agent punters this week, they have yet to sign anyone, most likely waiting to see if Bojorquez can suit up Sunday against the Packers.
