Fantasy Football Fallout: CeeDee Lamb’s Injury Shakes Up Cowboys WR Corps

by | Sep 23, 2025 | Blog, Dallas, Ohio, Tampa Bay

The Dallas Cowboys’ offense took a hit in Week 3 with the loss of star wideout CeeDee Lamb, who exited early with a high-ankle sprain during the team’s 31–14 loss to the Chicago Bears. Lamb’s fantasy managers were left scrambling after the wide receiver failed to return to the game following a hard tackle in the first quarter. Initial reports suggest he could miss 2–4 weeks, though the Cowboys have not yet placed him on Injured Reserve.

Lamb, who had compiled 16 catches for 222 yards over the first three weeks, had yet to find the end zone this season. His absence leaves a significant void in fantasy lineups and in the Cowboys’ passing game.

From a fantasy perspective, managers should consider immediate replacements such as Jalen Tolbert (deep-league stash) or Jake Ferguson, who may see an uptick in red-zone looks. George Pickens, recently acquired via trade, could also become a go-to target if chemistry with Dak Prescott develops quickly.

If you’re in need of a waiver-wire pickup, explore options like Josh Palmer or Romeo Doubs, depending on league depth. Monitor practice reports closely—especially if Lamb starts trending toward an earlier-than-expected return.

Lamb owners should stash him rather than drop or panic trade, especially in PPR formats. Once healthy, he’s still a top-15 WR with WR1 upside. In the meantime, consider rotating based on matchups to weather the storm.
