In a move that signals the end of an era in Texas, the Rangers announced Monday night that manager Bruce Bochy is stepping down, concluding a memorable three-year tenure that included the franchise’s first-ever World Series championship in 2023. The team said Bochy and the club mutually agreed to part ways, and he has been offered a front office advisory role moving forward.
“Bruce Bochy is one of the greatest managers in baseball history and he will forever hold a place in the hearts of Ranger fans after bringing home the first World Series title in franchise history in 2023,” said Rangers President of Baseball Operations Chris Young. “Boch brought class and respect to our club… we will always take pride in being part of his Hall of Fame career.”
Bochy’s final season in the Rangers’ dugout ends with a .500 record at 81-81, good for third place in the American League West. The team missed the postseason for the second straight year after their championship high in 2023.

In 2024, Texas stumbled to a 78-84 finish, and many hoped 2025 would bring a rebound. Instead, the campaign was marked by inconsistency and injuries, leaving the club out of October baseball once again.
Despite the last two seasons falling short of expectations, Bochy leaves an indelible legacy in Texas — and in baseball as a whole.

Bochy began his managerial career with the San Diego Padres before becoming a dynasty-builder in San Francisco, and finally leading the Rangers to their first championship.
The Rangers may not have to look far for Bochy’s successor. Skip Schumaker, the former Miami Marlins manager, is currently working in the Texas front office and is seen as a strong internal candidate to take over.

Meanwhile, Bochy has been offered a position as a senior advisor, allowing him to remain involved with the organization — and continue shaping its future off the field.
Ironically, the San Francisco Giants, the team Bochy led to three titles, are also searching for a new manager after parting ways with Bob Melvin earlier Monday. While no connection has been reported, the coincidence will certainly fuel speculation among Giants faithful.
Bruce Bochy’s managerial legacy is secure — a four-time World Series champion, respected clubhouse leader, and future Hall of Famer. While his time in the dugout may be over, his impact on the Rangers and the game of baseball will be felt for generations to come.
