Roope Hintz scores twice, including the overtime winner, as the Dallas Stars rally past Winnipeg 3-2 for their fourth straight victory ahead of Sunday’s Islanders game.
DALLAS – Roope Hintz picked the perfect time to take over Thursday night.
The Dallas Stars forward scored twice, including the game-winner in overtime, lifting Dallas to a dramatic 3-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets at American Airlines Center. The comeback extended the Stars’ winning streak to four games and continued their turnaround after a shaky start to the season.
Hintz delivered the winner 3:47 into overtime, beating Winnipeg with a shot from the slot after the Stars had rallied from a third-period deficit.
But Dallas needed some late-game heroics just to reach overtime.

Trailing 2-1 with two minutes remaining in regulation, Hintz scored from close range to tie the game and give the Stars new life.
The comeback was especially impressive considering how quickly Dallas surrendered its early advantage.
Wyatt Johnston opened the scoring just 1:17 into the second period, finishing a play set up by Mikko Rantanen and Jason Robertson.
Winnipeg responded midway through the period.
Gabriel Vilardi tied the game at 10:50, and Kyle Connor struck just 1:48 later to put the Jets ahead 2-1.
Suddenly, a game Dallas had largely controlled became another test of its ability to finish.
The Stars had generated the better early opportunities, holding a 12-6 advantage in first-period shots, but struggled to convert enough of their chances.
That changed when Hintz delivered in the final minutes.
Rantanen assisted on the tying goal, giving him another productive performance after scoring all three Dallas goals in Tuesday’s overtime victory against Boston.
Miro Heiskanen and Robertson assisted on the overtime winner, completing another comeback for a team beginning to develop some impressive late-game confidence.
Dallas also received an important contribution from its penalty killers, who successfully defended all four Winnipeg power plays.
The victory improved the Stars to 6-3-1 and demonstrated the resilience that was missing during their difficult opening stretch.
Dallas has now beaten Colorado, Chicago, Boston and Winnipeg during its four-game winning streak, with its last two victories coming in overtime.

Next Up: New York Islanders
The Stars continue their homestand Sunday, Oct. 25, against the New York Islanders at American Airlines Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT, with streaming coverage on Prime Video.
The Islanders present another opportunity for Dallas to build momentum, but the Stars will need more consistent scoring throughout regulation rather than relying on another late comeback.
For now, though, Hintz and the Stars have found their rhythm.
And they’re finding ways to win even when the scoreboard isn’t going their way.
