Russell Henley birdied four straight holes, including the playoff winner, to beat Eric Cole at Colonial and win the Charles Schwab Challenge.
FORT WORTH, Texas — Russell Henley turned the Charles Schwab Challenge into a late Sunday stunner at Colonial.
Henley birdied the final three holes of regulation, then added another birdie on the first playoff hole to beat Eric Cole and win at Hogan’s Alley. The victory was Henley’s sixth on the PGA TOUR and came after a closing 3-under 67, which pushed him to 12 under for the tournament.

For most of the final round, Cole looked positioned to break through for his first PGA TOUR win. He entered Sunday with a two-shot lead after firing a 63 on Saturday and never fully lost control in regulation. But Henley kept coming.
After saving par at No. 15 to stay within three shots, Henley caught fire. He made birdie putts from 15 feet at both No. 16 and No. 17, then buried a 17-footer at No. 18 to force the playoff.
Back at the 18th for the first extra hole, both players found the fairway. Henley knocked his approach close and finished the job with a 5-foot birdie putt. Cole had a 13-footer to extend the playoff, but it missed.
Cole closed with an even-par 70 and finished second after making pars on his final seven regulation holes and the playoff hole. He had several key saves late, including an up-and-down from a fairway bunker at No. 12, but couldn’t find the one birdie he needed to hold off Henley.
Ben Griffin made the loudest early charge with a 65 and finished at 11-under 269 alongside Alex Smalley and Mac Meissner. Griffin nearly created his own dramatic finish, lipping out a long birdie try at No. 18.

More importantly, he left Colonial with a win that required every ounce of patience, fight and late-round nerve.
