Golf’s Sunday script got shredded. The Bermuda and Genesis Championship recap delivered two very different endings: Yuto Katsuragawa celebrating a breakthrough in South Korea, and PGA Tour contenders stuck waiting for the wind to stop throwing punches.

At the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, nobody hit a competitive shot Sunday. Gusts exceeding 40 mph forced officials to call off play at Port Royal Golf Course, leaving Austin Smotherman and Seamus Power sharing the lead at 16 under through 54 holes.

The tournament’s conclusion remained unresolved in the latest available PGA Tour update. That matters: This was a weather stoppage, with a champion still to be determined.

Smotherman had positioned himself for another October payday after earning his first PGA Tour victory at the Bank of Utah Championship. His third-round 66 put him alongside Power, whose 67 kept a return to the Bermuda winner’s circle within reach.

Corey Conners, Taylor Moore and Ben Silverman were two strokes behind at 14 under. They’d earned a shot at chasing down the leaders. Sunday’s forecast slammed that door shut before the round could begin.

Across the globe, Katsuragawa finished the job.

The 28-year-old Japanese player won the Genesis Championship at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club, posting 13-under 271 for a two-stroke victory over Frenchmen Frederic Lacroix and Martin Couvra.

His Saturday 63 matched the course record and supplied the cushion. Sunday’s even-par 71 protected it.

There wasn’t much flash in the closing round: one birdie, 16 pars and a bogey at the last. With his challengers unable to sustain a charge, steady golf was enough.

“Having the second win, this is definitely the greatest moment of my life,” Katsuragawa said.

The emotion made sense. He’d entered the week 106th in the Race to Dubai rankings, outside the top 100 cutoff for retaining playing rights through the standings. He departed with his second DP World Tour title and qualification for both season-ending playoff events.

Lacroix shot 68 and Couvra carded 69 to finish at 11 under. Open champion Ryan Fox and Casey Jarvis were among the players sharing fourth at 10 under.

Katsuragawa’s win ended a drought dating to the 2024 ISPS Handa Championship and transformed an anxious week into a career highlight.

Bermuda’s contenders still needed their chance to settle things. In Korea, Katsuragawa had already supplied the answer: Build a lead, survive the pressure and make everyone else catch you.
