The Dallas Cowboys will have DeMarvion Overshown and Cobie Durant available for Monday night’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles, turning a week of encouraging practice reports into a concrete boost for the defense.
Neither player received a game designation on Saturday’s final injury report. Both worked through multiple full practices and have been medically cleared to return. For Dallas, that’s a welcome change from wondering whether two important defenders could make it through the week.
Practice Progress Becomes Clearance
Overshown has missed five games with a hamstring injury, while Durant has missed four with his own hamstring issue. Their availability gives the Cowboys more options at linebacker and cornerback as they prepare for a division opponent on the road.
Durant’s clearance builds on his return to practice Thursday, when he was still a limited participant. The distinction matters: getting back into drills was a step forward; finishing the week without an injury designation puts him in the game plan.
Availability doesn’t establish how many snaps either player will handle. Dallas can welcome the reinforcements without assuming everything immediately looks the way it did before their injuries. The practical benefit is having more choices when the coaching staff settles on personnel packages.
The final report also narrows the uncertainty for everyone preparing around them. Dallas can now plan for their availability instead of carrying those two unresolved injury questions into game day.
Several Questions Remain
The Cowboys still won’t have KaVontae Turpin, Dee Winters or Drew Shelton. All three were ruled out Saturday, so this isn’t a completely healthy roster heading into Philadelphia.
Marist Liufau and P.J. Locke are questionable and remain on injured reserve. Before either can play, Dallas must activate him to the 53-man roster and make the corresponding roster move. A questionable designation alone doesn’t complete that process.
The Eagles have their own missing pieces. Receivers DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks are out, while Saquon Barkley remains questionable despite returning to full participation Saturday. Tight end Dallas Goedert also practiced fully and was cleared.
Those developments will shape the matchups, but Dallas still has to execute its assignments. Getting Overshown and Durant back improves the preparation picture. Turning that improved availability into dependable coverage and tackling is Monday’s next test.
