No. 5 Aggies Locked and Loaded: Texas A&M Looks to Steamroll Florida in Primetime Clash

by | Oct 9, 2025 | Blog, Dallas, Tampa Bay

The Aggies aren’t just undefeated—they’re on a mission. Sitting at 5-0 and ranked No. 5 in the nation, Texas A&M enters Saturday night’s showdown against Florida as a touchdown favorite at Kyle Field, ready to prove they belong among college football’s elite.

After a 31-9 dismantling of Mississippi State, Marcel Reed and company have found their rhythm on both sides of the ball. Reed has thrown for 1,256 yards and 11 touchdowns while showing poise beyond his years, and the Aggies’ rushing attack—led by Le’Veon Moss—has been pounding defenses while the Aggies average almost 200 yards per game on the ground.

This isn’t your old, inconsistent A&M offense. They’re averaging nearly 35 points per game and ranking 22nd nationally in total yardage, even with some third-down hiccups. When the Aggies move the chains early, they’re nearly unstoppable.

Defensively, it’s the same old wrecking crew. The Aggies rank 21st nationally in total defense and allow just 21 points per game. That spells trouble for a Florida offense that has been, well, toothless. The Gators are posting only 354 yards per game—a meager 94th in the FBS—and quarterback DJ Lagway’s seven interceptions are an open invitation for A&M’s secondary to feast.

Florida’s saving grace has been its defense, which ranks top-25 nationally and gives up just 17 points per game. But that stingy stat sheet hasn’t been enough to offset a sputtering offense, especially against teams with A&M’s physicality and speed.

One hidden edge for the Aggies: red zone execution. Both teams rank in the top 25 at 94.1 percent, but A&M has the playmakers to finish drives—Mario Craver already has 557 yards and four touchdowns on the year, and Rueben Owens adds a dynamic spark on the ground.

Penalties remain the lone blemish. The Aggies are 124th in FBS, averaging a painful 75 penalty yards per game. Clean that up, and this could get ugly in a hurry for Florida.

Expect the 12th Man to make life miserable for Lagway and the Gators. Reed and Moss will set the tone early, Craver will break a big one downfield, and the Aggie defense will remind everyone why they’re in the playoff hunt.
