Jahmyr Gibbs needed no oxygen and gave Detroit all the air it required. The Lions’ third-year back gashed Tampa Bay for a career-high 218 yards from scrimmage, including a 78-yard sprint and a 5-yard spinning score, to bury the Buccaneers 24-9 on Monday night at Ford Field in Detroit.
Detroit (5-2) bounced back from last week’s loss and extended its remarkable run to 51 straight regular-season games without consecutive defeats, while Tampa Bay (5-2) absorbed a bruising primetime reality check.

The Bucs were outgained by more than 200 yards in the first half yet trailed just 14–3 after Detroit sabotaged itself with a fumble, an interception, a turnover on downs, and a missed field goal.
Any hopes of a grind-back vanished after halftime.
Rookie Tez Johnson’s 22-yard touchdown pulled Tampa Bay within five, but Gibbs immediately ripped off a 15-yard run and a 28-yard catch to set up his second rushing score, stretching the margin to 21-9 late in the third.
Baker Mayfield labored behind a line forced into predictable pass sets, finishing 28-of-50 for 228 yards with a touchdown and a pick. His late incompletion into the end zone with 4:24 left effectively ended any comeback flicker.
Detroit’s Jared Goff (20-of-29, 241 yards) opened with a 27-yard strike to Amon-Ra St. Brown, then mixed brilliance with blunders, including an overthrow on 4th-and-2, a lost fumble, and a red-zone interception. All mistakes the Bucs couldn’t convert into points.
Chase McLaughlin drilled a 53-yarder before halftime, while Detroit’s Jake Bates clanged in a 58-yarder off the upright in the fourth for the night’s final dagger.
Injuries compounded the Bucs’ misery.
