Tampa Bay Buccaneers running backs coach Skip Peete gave the team a scare this week after collapsing during a Wednesday walk-through practice. Fortunately, the veteran coach is reportedly doing well and will travel with the team to Seattle for their Week 5 game against the Seahawks.
Peete, 60, experienced what the team called a “medical episode” about 15-20 minutes into practice. Paramedics were called to the scene, and Peete was responsive and coherent before being transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

According to FOX Sports, Peete has since recovered and is healthy enough to rejoin the team on their road trip.
“He’s doing fine,” said head coach Todd Bowles, who noted that early reports suggested the incident was due to dehydration.
During the episode, Buccaneers players reportedly took a knee on the field in a show of respect as Peete received medical attention.

Peete is the brother of former NFL QB Rodney Peete and son of longtime NFL RB coach Willie Peete. He’s been coaching NFL running backs since 1998 and joined the Buccaneers in 2023. His résumé includes stints with the Raiders, Cowboys, Bears, and Rams.
The Bucs are already dealing with significant injuries across the roster — including RB Bucky Irving, who is out for Week 5. Peete’s return provides a dose of stability in a tumultuous week for Tampa Bay.
