Miles Sanders Doubtful, Jaydon Blue Set for Debut as Cowboys Look to Dodge Jet-Fueled Upset at MetLife

The Dallas Cowboys hit the road this weekend to take on the New York Jets, and while it looks like a game they should win on paper, nothing in the NFL comes easy — especially when the injury report keeps growing.

The latest concern? Running back Miles Sanders, who is dealing with knee and ankle injuries following last Sunday’s tie against the Green Bay Packers. Sanders has now missed two straight practices, and his availability for Sunday is very much in doubt. That news could clear the runway for rookie Jaydon Blue to finally take flight.

According to Cowboys insider Tommy Yarrish, Sanders was absent once again during Thursday’s media viewing window — adding more fuel to the fire that Jaydon Blue is on track to make his NFL debut.

“Becoming increasingly more likely that #Cowboys rookie RB Jaydon Blue makes his NFL debut on Sunday,” Yarrish posted on X.

Cowboys fans have been scratching their heads over Blue’s inactivity to start the season. The rookie flashed major potential in preseason action, showing explosiveness and agility that had fans calling for more. But despite the hype, it’s clear the coaching staff has been slow to fully trust him.

That might no longer be a choice.

With Javonte Williams taking the lead role in the backfield and Sanders on the shelf, Jaydon Blue could be the next man up — and what better stage than MetLife Stadium in a game that the Cowboys can’t afford to fumble?

After a rollercoaster first four weeks, this Sunday’s matchup could either be a get-right game — or the first chapter in another injury-riddled nightmare.
