Texas A&M just keeps finding ways to win — and on Saturday night, it came with another statement. Behind quarterback Marcel Reed’s poise and playmaking, the No. 5 Aggies stayed undefeated with a 34-17 victory over Florida, improving to 6-0 for the first time since 2016.
Reed was in control all night, throwing for 234 yards and a touchdown while adding another score on the ground.
“We’ve got to keep stacking wins,” Reed said postgame. “We’re not satisfied.” The Aggies (6-0, 3-0 SEC) jumped out to a 21-14 lead in the first half and never let the Gators find a rhythm again.
Texas A&M came out swinging with touchdowns on its first three possessions — capped by Le’Veon Moss’ bruising 22-yard run early in the second quarter. Moss, however, exited before halftime with an apparent ankle injury, leaving Rueben Owens to finish the job with 51 rushing yards and a late 2-yard touchdown that sealed the game.
Florida (2-4, 1-2) briefly showed life, tying the game twice in the first quarter and cutting the lead to 24-17 late in the third after a 45-yard field goal. But the Gators — and head coach Billy Napier — couldn’t sustain drives when it mattered. Napier fell to 0-14 on the road against ranked teams, as turnovers and red-zone miscues proved costly once again.
“We had our chances,” Napier said, “but you can’t turn the ball over and miss opportunities against a team like that.”
Dayon Hayes’ strip sack and fumble recovery set up the Aggies’ final points, while the defense bottled up DJ Lagway (245 yards, two touchdowns) for most of the night.
With Oregon’s loss earlier in the day, A&M could climb even higher in the rankings — and with the way the Aggies are grinding out wins, the College Football Playoff talk in College Station is heating up fast.
