With CeeDee Lamb sidelined by a high ankle sprain, the Dallas Cowboys needed a wide receiver to step up. George Pickens did more than that — he exploded.
In his first game as Dallas’ primary pass-catcher, Pickens hauled in eight receptions for 134 yards and two touchdowns, torching the Green Bay Packers’ defense and helping push the Cowboys to a 40-40 tie.
While many fans and analysts were surprised by Pickens’ WR1 performance, Dak Prescott wasn’t among them.
“It definitely was a show, right, for the rest of the league and put them on notice,” Prescott said. “When Cee comes back, you’ve got another big-time weapon. Two 1s. Guys you can move around. Guys you can trust on dang near any route.”
🏈 A Steal of a Trade?
Dallas acquired Pickens this past offseason from the Pittsburgh Steelers for a third-round pick — and that deal is looking like a flat-out heist. Through four weeks, Pickens has 300 yards and 4 touchdowns on just 21 catches, along with multiple pass interference penalties drawn that don’t show up on the stat sheet.
With CeeDee Lamb out, Pickens has proven he’s more than just a complementary receiver. He’s a legitimate WR1.
🔒 Time to Lock Him In?
Set to become a free agent in 2026, the Cowboys would be wise to start extension talks now. Pickens’ price tag is only going up with each breakout game — and if he keeps this up, Dallas could be looking at one of the most dangerous receiver duos in football when Lamb returns.
