The Dallas Stars could move local broadcasts to Amazon Prime Video, threatening the future of Victory+ and ending free streaming for many fans.

Per a report from DLLS, the Dallas Stars are reportedly preparing to leave Victory+ and shift their local game broadcasts to Amazon Prime Video for the 2026-27 NHL season, potentially ending one of hockey’s most fan-friendly – and apparently fragile – streaming experiments.

Dallas hasn’t confirmed the move. However, multiple sources told DLLS Sports that Prime Video is expected to become the Stars’ primary local streaming home, with another unidentified platform possibly joining the broadcast package.

If completed, the deal would end the Stars’ short run on Victory+, the advertising-supported service that gave viewers in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas free access to locally televised games. Dallas and A Parent Media Co. launched the platform in 2024 under a seven-year agreement after the Stars escaped the collapsing regional-sports-network model.

The pitch was almost suspiciously attractive: no cable bundle, no monthly fee and fewer blackout headaches. Two seasons later, the bill may finally be arriving.

Victory+ has spent the summer bleeding partners. The Texas Rangers removed their broadcasts from the service in July and switched to BZZR, a new direct-to-consumer distributor. The Anaheim Ducks also reportedly moved to terminate their agreement after Victory+ missed rights payments to multiple partners.

A Stars departure would hit even harder. Dallas was Victory+’s original flagship franchise, not simply another team added to the menu.

Prime Video already carries Seattle Kraken games within the Kraken’s regional territory and has expanded its NHL presence in Canada. Beginning in 2026-27, Amazon will stream at least 26 Canadian national regular-season games under a long-term agreement with Rogers.

For Stars fans, the tradeoff is obvious. Prime Video would offer a larger and more stable platform, and millions of households already subscribe to Amazon Prime. But it wouldn’t technically preserve Victory+’s free-access model.

Dallas will also appear in 13 nationally televised games during the 2026-27 season, separate from any regional arrangement.

Major questions remain, including regional availability, preseason coverage, pricing and whether broadcasters Josh Bogorad and Daryl “Razor” Reaugh would follow the games to Amazon.

Victory+ tried to make local hockey painless. If this report holds, convenience survived—but “free” didn’t.
