The Dallas Cowboys pulled off a miracle win at home against the division rival New York Giants on Sunday.
The unlikely 40-37 overtime win was a much-needed shot in the arm for the Cowboys, who started the season 0-1 with a disappointing loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night in Week 1. The win evens Dallas’ record and extends the team’s nine-game winning streak over the Giants, as well as Dak Prescott’s personal winning streak over New York, which is now 14 games.
But with all the celebration comes some bad news on the injury front.
Center Cooper Beebe left the game late in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury and did not return. CowboysCountry.com’s Mike Fisher reported on Monday that Beebe was seen in the locker room on Sunday evening on crutches.
On Monday, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport reported that Beebe is expected to miss 6-8 weeks with a high ankle sprain.
Beebe was replaced in the game by Brock Hoffman, who appeared in a game for the first time this season, and will likely take the reps at center in Beebe’s absence. Beebe was on the field for 73 of the Cowboys’ 89 offensive snaps in the win over the Giants and will create a massive hole for Hoffman to fill.
Dallas hits the road in Week 3 to Chicago to face defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus’ old team, the Bears.
