CeeDee Lamb isn’t ready to concede the NFC East. With the Dallas Cowboys sitting at 2-4 before Monday’s visit to the Philadelphia Eagles, the receiver sees a division that remains within reach and a team that still has to prove it belongs in that conversation.

“Anybody can win his division, so why not us?” Lamb said Friday.

That confidence comes with an immediate assignment. Dallas has lost two straight, and another divisional road game offers a chance to change the direction of its season before the hole gets deeper.

Opportunity Comes With A Deadline

The Giants lead the NFC East at 3-2-1, while Dallas and Philadelphia are both 2-4. That leaves room for movement, but the Cowboys can’t keep treating the standings as reassurance while passing up chances to improve their own position.

Lamb’s point is about opportunity, rather than anything Dallas has already earned. A win Monday would help the Cowboys directly against a division rival. A loss would leave them with another week of explaining why their talent hasn’t produced enough victories.

The game kicks off at 7:15 p.m. Central on October 26 at Lincoln Financial Field, with ABC and ESPN carrying the broadcast.

The Offense Has To Answer

Last Sunday’s 23-13 loss at Green Bay showed why belief alone won’t change the picture. Dallas trailed 17-0 at halftime. Dak Prescott threw 54 passes, finishing with 258 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions.

Lamb caught nine passes for 70 yards. Javonte Williams supplied 41 rushing yards and a touchdown on 11 carries, but Dallas didn’t score its second touchdown until the final minute.

The push to get Williams more involved gives that response a practical starting point. Keeping the running game relevant can help Dallas avoid asking Prescott and his receivers to solve every possession through the air.

For Lamb, the next step is translating the roster’s promise into a better overall performance. Dallas needs drives that produce points early enough to shape the game, rather than simply trim a late deficit.

The division has left a door open. Monday will test whether the Cowboys can do something with it.
