The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are dealing with more than their fair share of injuries just three weeks into the 2025 NFL season.
On Thursday, significant moves were made that will affect the rest of the season, after the team placed guard Cody Mauch and tackle Luke Goedeke on Injured Reserve. Mauch is done for the season with a knee injury. He finished the game and played every offensive snap in Monday night’s win at Houston, but played at least some of those plays with the injury. The 2023 second-round draft pick has never missed a game for Tampa Bay since arriving from the North Dakota State Bison that offseason and has missed only nine snaps in 36 games. Tampa Bay is now down three starters along its offensive line.
Left tackle Tristan Wirfs has not played yet this season after knee surgery late in the offseason, while Luke Goedeke is dealing with a foot injury and played only a few snaps on Monday night before leaving the game for good.
Adam Schefter reported the moves on X.
“Buccaneers placed starting OT Luke Goedeke and starting G Cody Mauch on Injured Reserve. Goedeke will return this season, but Mauch will not. Bucs officially signed OL Dan Feeney off the Bills practice squad, promoted OL Luke Haggard from their practice squad and also signed OL Sua Opeta to their practice squad.”

Greg Auman reported that the Bucs were also going to work out Royce Newman.
The Bucs host the Jets in their 2025 home opener on Sunday. New York is also dealing with injuries as starting quarterback Justin Fields is out with a concussion. Backup Tyrod Taylor will he under center in relief.
