The Milwaukee Brewers are one victory from their first World Series championship after overwhelming the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 on Monday night at Tropicana Field.
Milwaukee seized a 3-0 series lead behind Robert Gasser’s six scoreless innings and an eight-run fifth that turned a close game into a runaway. The Brewers finished with 16 hits, while Tampa Bay managed three.
Jackson Chourio went 4-for-5 with a stolen base, and William Contreras added three hits. Their production helped Milwaukee extend its postseason winning streak to eight games and put the Rays on the brink of elimination.

The Brewers opened the scoring in the third inning on RBI singles by Christian Yelich and Contreras against former Milwaukee starter Freddy Peralta.
Two innings later, the game unraveled for Tampa Bay.
Milwaukee loaded the bases before Peralta departed with two outs. Brice Turang greeted reliever Cam Booser with a two-run single, and Garrett Mitchell followed with another run-scoring single.
Cooper Pratt’s two-run double stretched the advantage before Sal Frelick added an RBI double. David Hamilton’s RBI single and Chourio’s run-scoring double completed the outburst.
All eight runs scored with two outs, setting a World Series record. Milwaukee produced seven consecutive hits during the rally without needing a home run.
Gasser made sure the offensive support was more than enough. The left-hander allowed one hit over six innings and faced the minimum 18 batters, benefiting from a caught stealing and a double play.
