Burrow, Herbert, Hurts, Love and Tagovailoa turned the 2020 NFL Draft into a quarterback class loaded with production, playoff runs and staying power.

Six years later, the quarterbacks from the 2020 NFL Draft have given teams just about everything imaginable: a Super Bowl champion, another Super Bowl starter, record-setting passing production, franchise turnarounds and one fascinating debate over who has actually had the best career.

And that debate isn’t nearly as simple as looking at passing yards.

Justin Herbert is the statistical king of the class. The Chargers quarterback has thrown for 25,447 yards and 166 touchdowns, both the highest totals among the group. He’s been remarkably durable and productive since taking over almost immediately as a rookie. Herbert’s problem is the postseason. His 52-46 regular-season record hasn’t translated to January success, where he’s 0-3.

Joe Burrow’s case looks different. The No. 1 overall pick has 21,553 yards and 163 touchdowns with only 52 interceptions while posting a 101.3 career passer rating. More importantly, Burrow has already taken Cincinnati to a Super Bowl and owns a 5-2 postseason record. Injuries have cost him significant stretches of multiple seasons, but when healthy, his combination of efficiency and postseason results is difficult to match.

Then there’s Jalen Hurts, somehow the fifth quarterback selected in the class at No. 53 overall.

Hurts doesn’t have Herbert’s passing totals or Burrow’s passer rating, but he owns something neither does: a Super Bowl ring. Hurts is 59-26 as an NFL starter and 6-4 in the playoffs, and he earned Super Bowl LIX MVP honors. Add 3,641 rushing yards and 64 rushing touchdowns, and his total offensive production changes the comparison considerably.

Jordan Love remains the wild card. Green Bay essentially redshirted him for three seasons behind Aaron Rodgers, leaving him far behind statistically. Since becoming the starter in 2023, however, Love has thrown 86 touchdowns and led Green Bay to three consecutive postseason appearances.

Tua Tagovailoa’s career may be the most complicated. He threw for 18,166 yards and 120 touchdowns in Miami and led the NFL with 4,624 passing yards in 2023. But after his production declined in 2025, Tagovailoa landed in Atlanta and hasn’t attempted a pass through three games in 2026.

The remarkable part isn’t that the 2020 class produced one good quarterback.

It produced five legitimate NFL starters, three Super Bowl appearances between Burrow and Hurts, massive passing numbers from Herbert and enough unfinished business from Love to keep the comparison changing.

Six years later, the 2020 quarterback draft is looking less like a good class and more like one we’ll be comparing to the NFL’s legendary quarterback drafts for decades.
