Terry Bussey enters 2026 with a bigger role, elite speed and growing trust from Texas A&M coaches. He could become the Aggies’ offensive wildcard.

The Texas A&M Aggies already know what Marcel Reed, Mario Craver and Isaiah Horton bring to the offense. The player who could make this group truly dangerous in 2026, though, might be Terry Bussey.

And that’s exactly what makes him fascinating.

Bussey arrived in College Station with massive expectations as one of the most highly regarded prospects in his recruiting class. Through his first two seasons, however, his production has been more tease than takeover. He’s appeared in 25 games and enters 2026 with 35 receptions for 411 yards and one touchdown, averaging 11.7 yards per catch.

Those aren’t star numbers … Yet.

As JD Andress with Aggies on SI pointed out, Bussey’s talent has never really been the question. His combination of burst, strength and open-field explosiveness gives Texas A&M something different from the rest of its receiving corps.

Now the Aggies appear ready to find out what happens when they actually give him more opportunities.

That could be huge for Reed.

Texas A&M isn’t asking Bussey to suddenly become the No. 1 option. Craver and Horton should command plenty of defensive attention, which could actually create an ideal situation for Bussey.

If opposing safeties and cornerbacks spend their afternoons worrying about those two, Bussey could find himself working against favorable coverage.

That’s where his speed becomes dangerous.

The Aggies can move Bussey around, use him in space, attack mismatches and potentially create touches without asking Reed to force the football downfield.

More empty formations could also mean more snaps and more chances for Bussey to punish defenses that don’t account for him.

Texas A&M has another reason to get the ball in his hands: special teams.

Bussey could factor into the punt-return competition, providing another path for his explosiveness to impact games even when the offense isn’t on the field.

The timing couldn’t be better.

Mike Elko’s program is no longer trying to prove it can become relevant. After reaching the College Football Playoff for the first time in school history, the next challenge is proving that last season wasn’t a one-year surge.

That requires new players becoming difference-makers.

Bussey might be at the front of that list.

He doesn’t have to catch 100 passes or lead the SEC in receiving. If he becomes the explosive third option defenses can’t ignore, Texas A&M suddenly becomes much harder to defend.

The Aggies already have their stars. Bussey could be the piece that makes all of them more dangerous.
