The TCU Horned Frogs will host the Abilene Christian University Wildcats on Saturday in their home opener for the 2025 college football season.
ACU is 1-1 after a road 35-7 loss to Tulsa to start the season and a 28-20 home win over Stephen F. Austin last week. Quarterback Stone Earle threw for 239 yards and ran for a touchdown as the Wildcats rallied from an early deficit for the win over the Lumberjacks.
TCU is fresh off a stunning 48-14 win over Bill Belichick and the North Carolina Tar Heels, in a game that Coach Bill allowed the most points ever by one of his teams. Frogs’ quarterback Josh Hoover threw for 284 yards with two touchdowns and one interception, while Kevorian Barnes rushed for 113 yards on 11 carries with one touchdown on the ground. Receiver Jordan Dwyer caught nine balls for 126 yards and a score to get in on the action.
The Wildcats could have a problem with Barnes on the ground. In the loss to Tulsa, the ACU defense allowed Dominic Richardson to rush for 142 yards while the Golden Hurricane amassed 263 total yards on the ground.
Hoover is completing 75 percent of his throws for TCU and was not sacked against the Tar Heels last time out. Barnes is averaging 10.3 yards per carry so after one game and rattled off a 75-yarder last time out. Look out, Wildcats defense…
For the Wildcats, Earle is completing 67.9 percent of his passes but has been sacked six times for 32 yards. Jordan Vaughn is averaging just 3.6. yards per carry while Javon Gipson is dangerous through the air, averaging 15.5 yards per catch with a long of 42.
