Si Woo Kim is having the best season of his PGA Tour career, but one Scottie Scheffler challenge still keeps following him — even back home in Dallas.

Si Woo Kim has quietly turned into one of the biggest stories of the 2026 PGA Tour season, and at this point, “quietly” probably doesn’t fit anymore.

Kim enters the BMW Championship sitting No. 4 in the FedEx Cup standings after putting together the most complete season of his career. He owns 11 top-10 finishes, has landed on the podium five times and is already assured a trip to the Tour Championship at East Lake.

There’s just one glaring hole on the résumé.

He still hasn’t won.

Kim’s last PGA Tour victory came at the 2023 Sony Open, and while the drought might bother some players, the 31-year-old appears far more interested in what he’s built over the course of an entire season.

That’s consistency.

Instead of bouncing between contention and missed weekends, Kim has become a fixture near the top of leaderboards. His ball-striking, accuracy and course management have all helped turn a historically volatile player into one of the safest bets on Tour to hang around through Sunday.

Then there’s the Scottie Scheffler problem.

Kim finished runner-up to Scheffler at the St. Jude Championship, eight shots behind the world No. 1. Apparently, losing to Scheffler isn’t limited to PGA Tour events, either.

The two also play together at Royal Oaks Country Club in Dallas, where Kim says he still hasn’t managed to beat Scheffler outright.

That may be the funniest subplot of Kim’s breakout season.

Kim said he’s tied Scheffler twice at their home course but has yet to take him down. Their relationship has grown from Kim initially being somewhat reserved around Scheffler to the two now trading trash talk during their rounds.

And yes, Kim has apparently tried negotiating for strokes.

No luck.

That competitive edge makes Kim even more interesting heading into the BMW Championship at Bellerive. He’s already locked into East Lake, so the pressure of simply advancing is gone. What remains is the one thing missing from an otherwise phenomenal season: a trophy.

Kim already owns four PGA Tour victories, including his memorable triumph at The Players Championship in 2017.

The 2026 version of Si Woo Kim may be better than any of those previous versions.

Now he just needs to finish the job.

And if he happens to beat Scheffler along the way, maybe he can finally carry some bragging rights back to Dallas.
