The opening round of the RSM Classic at Sea Island Golf Club – Seaside Course delivered birdie-fest conditions, setting the tone for an exciting finish to the 2025 season.

With calm winds off the coast of Georgia and sunshine on tap, the field came out swinging — and the scores prove it.

Topping the leaderboard was Doug Ghim, who posted an impressive 10-under 60 to share the early lead. He nearly made history with a putt for 59, but even at 60 he showed serious intent for the week.

Sharing the 10-under co-lead were Davis Thompson and Rico Hoey, each carding 62. Hoey was especially sharp, hitting all 18 greens and draining a 45-foot eagle putt at the par-5 14th.

Close behind at 9-under were Andrew Putnam and Andrew Novak, both posting 61s and demonstrating solid form at this pivotal moment of the season.

With scores this low, the RSM Classic is shaping up to be a shootout. Ghim’s charge also carries extra weight as he fights to secure his Tour card for next season — the pressure is real. Expect more fireworks as the weekend unfolds and players who got off to fast starts look to maintain momentum down the stretch.
