Dak Prescott Looks to Torch Winless Jets as Cowboys Battle Injuries and Doubt

by | Oct 4, 2025 | Blog, Dallas

Dak Prescott is on a mission — and the New York Jets (0-4) are next on the hit list.

The Dallas Cowboys (1-2-1) head to MetLife Stadium looking to bounce back from a brutal 40-40 tie with Green Bay. While Dallas’ defense is a wreck without Micah Parsons, Prescott has looked every bit like an MVP candidate in his comeback season from a torn hamstring.

Entering Sunday’s matchup, Prescott leads the NFL in both passing yards (1,119) and completions (121).

“As confident as I’ve ever been,” Prescott said this week. “I think I’m just going right off of the heels of the experience.”

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn is still searching for his first win — and trying to avoid joining franchise infamy. New York is one loss away from its fourth 0-5 start ever, and first since the 2020 Adam Gase meltdown.

Despite the chaos, Glenn knows exactly who he’s facing.

“He’s a damn good player… a one-man show,” Glenn said of Prescott.

Dallas ranks dead last in total defense and passing yards allowed. First-year DC Matt Eberflus has shifted the scheme to zone-heavy looks — and it’s not working.

Trevon Diggs — once the NFL’s interception king — has now come off the bench twice this season, including last week’s tie, after multiple zone-coverage breakdowns.

“That’s coach holding me accountable,” Diggs said. “Back on track this week.”

New York is the only team in the NFL without a takeaway. Defensive coordinator Steve Wilks is staying patient — but the pressure is mounting.

“The ball’s been on the ground… we’ve just got to be there and come up with it,” Wilks said.

Both teams are beat up heading into Sunday:

Cowboys OUT:

  • C Cooper Beebe (IR, foot)

  • RG Tyler Booker (ankle)

  • LT Tyler Guyton (concussion)

  • WR CeeDee Lamb (ankle)

  • S Malik Hooker (toe)

  • WR/KR KaVontae Turpin (foot)

Cowboys Questionable:

  • LG Tyler Smith (knee)

  • RB Miles Sanders (knee/ankle)

Jets OUT:

  • RB Braelon Allen (IR, knee)

  • CB Michael Carter II (concussion)

Jets Doubtful:

  • EDGE Jermaine Johnson (ankle)

With both teams battling injuries, it comes down to quarterback play — and that’s where Prescott gives Dallas a major edge. Unless the Jets suddenly find a takeaway or a spark, Dak may be about to push Aaron Glenn into the Jets record books for all the wrong reasons.
