NFL Trade Rumors: Eagles Reportedly Field Calls on Pro Bowl DT

The Eagles are reportedly receiving trade inquiries for star defensive tackle Jalen Carter as contract decisions loom in Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Eagles may have a difficult decision looming with star defensive tackle Jalen Carter, and the rest of the NFL is clearly paying attention. According to league reports, multiple teams have contacted Philadelphia about a potential trade involving Carter, one of the league’s most disruptive young defensive linemen.

The Jalen Carter trade rumors surfaced as the Eagles navigate a complicated financial future along their defensive front. Carter, who entered the NFL as the No. 9 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, has quickly developed into a cornerstone player in Philadelphia’s defense.

Through his first three seasons, Carter has already built an impressive résumé. The former Georgia standout has earned two Pro Bowl selections and was named a Second-Team All-Pro in 2024, validating the Eagles’ decision to draft him despite pre-draft concerns that caused his draft-day slide.

He also finished runner-up for Defensive Rookie of the Year during his debut season, immediately establishing himself as one of the most dominant interior defenders in football.

Still, success on the field often leads to complicated salary-cap conversations.

Carter is currently under contract through the 2026 season, with the Eagles holding a fifth-year option valued at approximately $27.1 million thanks to his Pro Bowl appearances. However, he’s also eligible for a contract extension now, and the team must soon decide how to allocate major financial resources across its defensive line.

That conversation became even more interesting this week after Philadelphia extended defensive tackle Jordan Davis, reportedly agreeing to a three-year deal worth roughly $26 million per year in new money.

The timing naturally raises questions.

NFL executives often leak trade interest to gauge market value, and it’s unclear whether teams are aggressively pursuing Carter or whether Philadelphia is quietly testing the waters.

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has previously said he’ll always listen when teams call about players. That philosophy appears to be in play again as rival front offices check in on Carter’s availability.

For now, there’s no indication that Philadelphia is actively shopping the young star. But in the NFL, when the phone starts ringing, things can change quickly.

And if the Eagles ever decide to move Carter, the bidding war could be massive.
