Quinn Ewers is the Miami Dolphins’ new starting quarterback.

Miami Dolphins quarterback Quinn Ewers has played only three NFL games but is already one of the hottest topics around the league. The Southlake, Texas native started his college football journey at Ohio State before transferring to Texas, where he put up more than 9,000 yards of passing and 68 touchdowns en route to multiple appearances on college football’s biggest stage.

The Dolphins drafted Ewers in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

He spent most of the season as Miami’s third-string quarterback before injuries and a lack of production at the top of the depth chart gave Ewers an opportunity. Ewers replaced Tua Tagovailoa, who had been benched in week 16 as the Dolphins’ starter.

In Week 17 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Ewers had a game-winning performance. He led Miami to a 20-17 win and earned his first career NFL victory as a starter. Ewers threw two touchdowns on the day, including a 63-yard bomb, as he displayed his arm talent, composure, and big-play ability for Miami against a Tampa Bay team fighting for a playoff spot.

The rookie is writing the next chapter of Dolphins history as the team’s young quarterback who didn’t just replace Tua, but may be Miami’s long-term answer under center.

Let’s see what Miami’s next move is with Tua. Regardless, Tua has a guaranteed contract. Will there be a potential settlement?
