The VRBO Fiesta Bowl teams are set, so let’s get this party started! The Miami Hurricanes take on the Ole Miss Rebels in a College Football Playoff semifinal that will be filled with fireworks and drama.
The Hurricanes looked legit after their Cotton Bowl win over the defending national champion Ohio State Buckeyes. Quarterback Carson Beck is going to be the key for them, and he put up a good showing against the Buckeyes in the upset.
He was excellent in short-yardage situations against a very talented Ohio State front and made big plays with both his arm and legs when his team needed them.
Beck (138 passing yards, 1 TD, 23 rushing) has really hit his stride at the right time in his redshirt season as a quarterback for Miami. He’s been under center for some big moments this season and has handled them very well, and Miami has a loaded offense that’s clicking.
Ole Miss is no joke, either. Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss is a huge-play waiting to happen for the Rebels. Instead of a meltdown, he somehow turned the potential disaster into a flashy touchdown vs. Georgia in the SEC Championship game.
Chambliss (320 passing, 2 TDs) may be the best dual-threat quarterback remaining in the playoffs, and for good reason.
He constantly extended plays against the Bulldogs with his legs and avoided being sacked at all costs by the best pressure group in college football. Chambliss made magic happen with his arm and his legs in the biggest moment of his career so far. The junior was super impressive against one of the best defenses in college football.
Miami and Ole Miss both bring potent offenses and playmaking defenses to Glendale. Both teams want to reach the National Championship game, but only one will get there.
Who will come up big when it matters most? Who will punch their ticket to the National Championship? Hold on, it’s going to be a nail-biter! The VRBO Fiesta Bowl will be played at 7:30PM ET at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, home of the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals.
