Logan Stankoven’s first NHL hat trick fuels Carolina’s three-game winning streak as the Hurricanes surge offensively while awaiting Seth Jarvis’ return.
The Carolina Hurricanes aren’t showing many signs of a Stanley Cup hangover.
After a difficult opening to their championship defense, the Hurricanes have responded with three consecutive victories, scoring 16 goals during that stretch.
And their latest offensive explosion featured a familiar face to Dallas Stars fans.
Former Stars forward Logan Stankoven recorded his first career NHL hat trick Thursday as Carolina demolished the Vancouver Canucks 7-2 at Lenovo Center.
The victory improved Carolina to 3-1-1 and reinforced its reputation as one of the NHL’s most dangerous offensive teams.

Hurricanes Overcome Difficult Opening
Carolina opened October with a disappointing 5-2 home loss to Washington on October 2.
Alex Tuch scored twice in his Capitals debut, while Washington goaltender Logan Thompson turned aside 31 shots.
The Hurricanes responded the following night against Philadelphia.
Sebastian Aho scored twice and added an assist as Carolina rallied for a 3-2 overtime victory.
Former Flyers defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere delivered the winner 2:51 into overtime.
Pyotr Kochetkov made 16 saves in the victory.
Carolina’s Offense Takes Over
The Hurricanes continued their turnaround October 6, defeating Montreal 6-4.
Taylor Hall scored twice, while Aho contributed a goal and two assists.
Mark Jankowski and Eric Robinson each finished with a goal and an assist.
Carolina then delivered its most impressive offensive performance of the young season Thursday.
Stankoven scored three times against Vancouver, including a short-handed goal and a power-play goal.
Andrei Svechnikov added two power-play goals, while defenseman Sean Walker registered a career-high four assists.
Kochetkov stopped 18 shots.
The seven-goal outburst highlighted Carolina’s depth and special-teams effectiveness.
Through five games, Aho leads the Hurricanes with eight points, including four goals and four assists.
Jackson Blake has contributed five assists, while Walker’s four-point performance demonstrated the offensive contributions Carolina can receive from its defensemen.
Seth Jarvis Injury Update
The Hurricanes received encouraging news Thursday concerning forward Seth Jarvis.
Jarvis participated in practice wearing a regular jersey for the first time since undergoing offseason surgery to repair damage to his right shoulder.
The procedure addressed a torn labrum and rotator cuff.
Although Jarvis has been cleared for contact, Carolina hasn’t announced an immediate return date.
His original recovery timeline projected a return between late October and December.
For a team already producing significant offense, getting Jarvis back would provide another important weapon.

The biggest question: With Stankoven, Aho and Svechnikov producing, how dangerous can Carolina become once Jarvis returns?
