As rivalry week offers many traditional games, most would not think of TCU and Cincinnati as being one of them. But as their records and similar style of play show, this may go down as a growing Big 12 matchup.
After an almost two hour delay, TCU showed balance with its offense, generating 45 points and over 540 yards of total offense.
The Horned Frogs scored 31 points in the first half, the most allowed all season by the Bearcats’ defense.
TCU QB Josh Hoover’s performance of four touchdowns, 19 of 22 completions and 306 yards may have been overshadowed by star running back Jeremy Payne. Payne showed his true versatility with 26 carries for 174 yards and two touchdowns.
Along with his durable night rushing the ball he also had a reception for 44 yards.
Although the 8-4 Horned Frogs will not be competing in the Big 12 Championship game, they will look to continue some momentum in a bowl game and some returning key pieces next year, including the seasoned Hoover.
