Haeran Ryu survived one of the wildest major finishes of the LPGA season Sunday, defeating Brooke Henderson in a playoff to capture the 2026 Amundi Evian Championship in France.
Ryu and Henderson finished regulation tied at 19-under 265 at Evian Resort Golf Club, setting up a sudden-death return to the par-5 18th. Ryu reached the green in two, calmly two-putted for birdie and secured the title when Henderson couldn’t convert from just off the putting surface.

The victory gave Ryu her first Evian Championship crown and a second consecutive major title.
It also completed a remarkable 24-hour stretch. Ryu entered the final round after firing a historic 60 on Saturday, the lowest score ever recorded in a major championship. Her closing round was far less explosive, but it demanded every bit as much composure.
Ryu posted an even-par 71 and didn’t make her first birdie until the final hole of regulation. That birdie moved her to 19 under, but it wasn’t enough to end the tournament.
Henderson came charging from seven strokes behind with one of the most dramatic rounds of the week. She made eagle at the par-5 seventh, followed it with a hole-in-one at the par-3 eighth and then forced the playoff with another eagle on No. 18.
Aki Iwai also had a chance to join the playoff but missed a birdie attempt on the final green.
In sudden death, Henderson drove into the left rough and laid up. Ryu found the right side of the green with her second shot, leaving herself a long eagle attempt. Henderson’s third finished left of the green, and when her chip failed to drop, Ryu completed the two-putt birdie for the championship.
Jin Hee Im, Miyu Yamashita and Mao Saigo tied for fourth at 15 under.

Ryu earned $1.365 million from the $9.1 million purse and collected 650 Race to the CME Globe points. The victory came in the 18th event of the LPGA season and strengthened her position for the CME Group Tour Championship later this year.
The LPGA Tour now takes a one-week break before returning at the ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open.
Henderson delivered the fireworks. Ryu walked away with the trophy.
