Frisco RoughRiders stayed unbeaten with a 9-1 win over Midland in the home opener, using a six-run third inning and dominant bullpen work at Riders Field.

FRISCO – The Frisco RoughRiders kept their fast start alive Tuesday night, beating the Midland RockHounds 9-1 at Riders Field and improving to 4-0 on the young Texas League season.

Frisco’s home opener flipped in a hurry during the third inning, when Midland starter Kenya Huggins suddenly lost the zone. The RoughRiders took full advantage, drawing four straight walks and forcing in the game’s first run. From there, the inning snowballed. Orlando Martinez delivered an RBI single, while Marcus Lee Sang and Tucker Mitchell each punched through two-run hits as Frisco built a commanding 6-0 cushion.

That was more than enough support for Frisco’s pitching staff. Starter Josh Trentadue worked four scoreless innings and struck out four before turning things over to Wilian Bormie, who earned the win. The bullpen slammed the door from there, with RoughRiders relievers retiring hitters efficiently and never letting Midland build momentum.

Frisco kept adding on as John Taylor and Frainyer Chavez each brought home a run with sacrifice flies. Ian Moller supplied the loudest moment of the night in the fifth, crushing a full-count pitch over the left-field home run terrace for his first homer of the season and Frisco’s first long ball at Riders Field in 2026.

Tucker Mitchell and Keyber Rodriguez each finished with two hits. Rodriguez and Mitchell now share the Texas League lead with eight hits through four games. Frisco also remains the only team in Minor League Baseball yet to surrender an extra-base hit this season.
