Deshaun Watson delivered two touchdown passes and a clutch late drive as the Browns beat Carolina 21-18 for their second straight victory.
Deshaun Watson didn’t need 300 passing yards to give Cleveland exactly what it needed Sunday.
He needed one big drive.
Watson delivered it.

The Browns rallied for a 21-18 victory over the Carolina Panthers at Huntington Bank Field, improving to 2-1 behind another encouraging performance from their veteran quarterback and a defense that came up with the game-clinching play.
Watson finished 16 of 30 for 145 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions, but his impact went beyond the passing numbers. He added 44 rushing yards on 11 carries, including a 20-yard run, and made his best plays with Cleveland’s margin for error disappearing.
Trailing 18-13 late in the fourth quarter, Watson guided the Browns down the field and found tight end Harold Fannin Jr. for a 14-yard touchdown with 1:55 remaining.
Cleveland still needed two points.
Watson delivered again, hitting rookie receiver Denzel Boston on the conversion to give the Browns a 21-18 lead.
That’s winning quarterback play.
Fannin became Watson’s most reliable target, catching seven passes for 52 yards and both Cleveland touchdowns. His first score, a 2-yard reception late in the second quarter, gave the Browns a 10-0 lead.
Cleveland also finally received some production from its running game. Quinshon Judkins rushed for 70 yards on 18 carries, while Watson’s mobility added another dimension Carolina had to respect.
The Browns weren’t dominant offensively. They finished with only 259 total yards and committed 12 penalties for 85 yards.
But when the game reached winning time, Watson was at his best.
Carolina had one final opportunity after Cleveland took the lead, but safety Ronnie Hickman intercepted Bryce Young with 17 seconds remaining, allowing Watson to kneel out Cleveland’s second consecutive victory.
After opening the season with an ugly loss at Jacksonville, the Browns suddenly have momentum.

Watson has been a major reason why.
He followed his strong performance in last week’s comeback win over Tampa Bay with another turnover-free afternoon, two more touchdown passes and, most importantly, a game-winning fourth-quarter drive.
The statistics weren’t spectacular.
The finish absolutely was.
