Cowboys Reportedly Shopping for Additional Pass Rush Help Ahead of Week 2

by | Sep 10, 2025 | Blog, Dallas

The Dallas Cowboys lost the services of star pass rusher Micah Parsons in the trade that sent him to the Green Bay Packers just ahead of the regular season. That left a huge hole in the roster, and it was apparent in Thursday night’s opening 24-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Dallas managed just one sack of Jalen Hurts, and he ran freely most of the game, amassing 62 yards on 14 carries with two touchdown runs.

Now, Dallas is reportedly meeting with three-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney, per Josina Anderson. Clowney was released by the Carolina Panthers in May and expressed an interest in remaining in the league rather than facing retirement.

Clowney was the No. 1 overall draft pick of the Houston Texans in 2014 and has also spent time with the Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens before joining Carolina ahead of last year. He posted 5.5 sacks and 11 QB hits last year with the Panthers.

Overall, Clowney has registered 58 total sacks with 139 QB hits across 140 games and 127 starts over 11 seasons in the NFL.

Clowney could contribute immediately to a pass rush room that already includes Sam Williams, Dante Fowler, Marshawn Kneeland, Donovan Ezeiruaku and James Houston. His contract in Carolina was for two years and $10 million before being cut. Dallas could conceivably get him for less.
