The Dallas Cowboys have encouraging news for CeeDee Lamb and Tyler Guyton, but the defense’s injury picture remains unsettled before Green Bay. Neither offensive starter received a game designation Friday, while Joey Porter Jr. and DeMarvion Overshown were listed as questionable.
Cornerback Cobie Durant and offensive tackle Drew Shelton have been ruled out with hamstring injuries. Defensive tackle L.T. Overton and cornerback Ameer Speed also carry questionable designations.
Lamb And Guyton Clear The Week
Lamb, listed with a thigh injury, and Guyton, dealing with a back issue, practiced fully throughout the week. Friday’s report gives Dallas a firmer answer than the positive participation updates that opened its preparations.
Our earlier look at Lamb and Guyton’s full practices noted that participation alone wasn’t a final game designation. Now neither player has an injury designation for the matchup.
That’s useful clarity for the offense. It doesn’t guarantee a particular snap count or workload, but it removes the uncertainty of waiting for a questionable designation to be resolved.
Porter’s Week Takes Another Turn
Porter was limited Wednesday with an ankle injury, practiced fully Thursday and returned to limited participation Friday. His questionable status means Dallas still has a decision ahead, despite that encouraging middle practice.
He missed the previous game because of illness. This week’s ankle listing is a separate concern, and the two shouldn’t be treated as the same injury issue.
Overshown, meanwhile, progressed from not participating Wednesday to limited work Thursday and Friday as he continues recovering from a hamstring injury. Brian Schottenheimer sounded cautious about his chances Friday, even though the final designation leaves open the possibility of playing.
Questionable Still Means Uncertain
For Dallas, the report presents two different planning challenges: replacing players already ruled out and preparing for different outcomes with those whose availability hasn’t been settled.
Durant’s absence is confirmed. Porter and Overshown haven’t been ruled out, but neither should be described as cleared. Overton and Speed add further questions for the defensive staff.
The next meaningful answer will come when those game-day decisions are made. Until then, the Cowboys can take confidence from Lamb and Guyton’s availability while recognizing that the defense’s personnel picture still has moving parts.
