Longhorns Look to Reset and Rebound: Texas Eyes a Confident Response Against Arkansas

by | Nov 20, 2025 | Blog, Dallas, Texas Longhorns Daily Blitz

After a tough 35–10 loss to Georgia, No. 17 Texas returns to Austin on Nov. 22 with a chance to steady its season and rebuild momentum against Arkansas. And despite the bumps, there’s plenty of reason for optimism heading into this SEC reunion.

The Longhorns (7–3) remain anchored by one of the nation’s most reliable defenses, ranking 23rd nationally in total defense and an elite 6th against the run. Their ability to force third-down stops — opponents convert just 33.8% of the time — continues to give Texas opportunities to control games even when the offense stalls.

That defense will be tested by an Arkansas attack that quietly ranks 13th in the FBS, averaging 470 yards per game behind quarterback Taylen Green (2,537 yards, 19 TDs) and physical back Mike Washington (913 rushing yards). But the Razorbacks’ firepower has been consistently undermined by giveaways. Arkansas enters with a -10 turnover margin, one of the worst in the nation — exactly the kind of weakness Texas has thrived on with its +8 margin, good for 12th nationally.

Offensively, Texas still shows encouraging flashes despite last week’s struggles. Arch Manning has thrown for 2,374 yards and 19 touchdowns, while freshman playmakers Ryan Wingo (655 yards) and Quintrevion Wisner (375 rushing yards) continue to grow into larger roles. Against an Arkansas defense giving up 426.5 yards per game and ranking near the bottom of the FBS in both run and pass defense, the Longhorns have a prime chance to rediscover rhythm and confidence.

And that’s the real opportunity this week: a reset. A chance to clean up the penalties (Texas ranks 119th in penalty yards), sharpen execution, and regain the identity that carried them early in the season.

Arkansas will bring effort — they nearly upset LSU last week — but Texas has every tool needed for a rebound. With a home crowd behind them and everything still to play for, this matchup offers the perfect stage for the Longhorns to respond with clarity, focus, and belief.

A hopeful path forward begins Saturday.
