Cleveland Browns Select Curious Position in First Round in Latest 2026 NFL Mock Draft

by | Sep 6, 2025 | Blog, Ohio

The Cleveland Browns have just completed one of the more interesting offseasons in recent memory.

After starting quarterback Deshaun Watson suffered two Achilles ruptures over the course of three months in October and January, he’s likely done for at least most of the season. Browns general manager Andrew Berry signed long-time veteran Joe Flacco to a one-year deal, then traded for fellow veteran Kenny Pickett. In this year’s NFL Draft, Berry selected Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel in the third round and Colorado star QB Shedeur Sanders in the fifth.

The four battled it out for the starting job over the offseason, training camp and the preseason, with Flacco winning the job. Pickett was traded to Las Vegas to back up Geno Smith.

That leaves Gabriel and Sanders as the Nos. 2 and 3 quarterbacks on the depth chart, and the future of the position still in question. If neither one has the potential to carry the team into the future, what could Cleveland do? Flacco is 40 years old and clearly isn’t the future. But in a recent 2026 NFL Mock Draft, Pro Football Network believes it might have the answer. Using its Pro Football Network Mock Draft Simulator, it believes the Browns will select No. 3 overall next April.

3) Cleveland Browns: Cade Klubnik, QB, Clemson

“Cade Klubnik is coming off a tough week, as his Tigers were held to 10 points against a tough LSU defense. The Clemson passer appeared to be thrown off his game, completing just 50% of his passes for no touchdowns and an interception. Regardless, Klubnik’s entire body of work suggests that he has the potential to be a franchise guy in the NFL. He’s not going to blow you away with his arm strength or measureables, as he stands just 6’2″ and 210 pounds, but he’s an excellent distributor of the football — think Bo Nix. Another thing the scouts will be looking at as a major positive is that he’s gotten better each season with the Tigers. He’s shown that he’s willing to put in the work to improve his prior deficiencies.”
