The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released a statement Wednesday afternoon regarding running backs coach Skip Peete, who was hospitalized after suffering a medical episode during the team’s morning walkthrough.
“During this morning’s walk-through practice, running backs coach Skip Peete experienced a medical episode,” the team announced. “He was attended to by team medical personnel and was responsive, coherent, and in stable condition prior to being transported off site for further medical evaluations.”

According to head coach Todd Bowles, the early indication is that dehydration may have been the cause, though Peete is still undergoing additional testing to confirm.
Peete’s condition was described as stable and coherent before he left the facility for further evaluation. The team assured that more updates would follow as they become available.
Peete, a longtime NFL assistant, is in his third season with the Buccaneers. His health scare serves as a reminder of the demanding conditions coaches and players endure—even during non-contact portions of the season.
