Browns’ Woes Deepen as David Njoku Suffers Knee Injury in Loss to Steelers

The Cleveland Browns’ frustrating 2025 campaign took another blow Sunday as tight end David Njoku exited with a knee injury during the team’s 23-9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The defeat marked Cleveland’s fifth in six games and continued a troubling offensive trend — the Browns have yet to score more than 17 points in a contest this season.

Njoku’s injury adds to the team’s growing list of concerns. Initially labeled a thigh issue, the Browns later clarified it as a knee injury following the game.

Beat reporter Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com confirmed via X that both Njoku and linebacker Joe Tryon-Shoyinka were dealing with knee ailments sustained during the loss. The team has not yet provided an official timeline, with further testing scheduled in the coming days.

Njoku’s absence would be a major setback for an offense already struggling to find rhythm.

The veteran tight end has been one of Cleveland’s most consistent offensive weapons this season, providing stability amid inconsistent quarterback play and a stagnant run game.

Losing him for any period of time could force the Browns to lean more heavily on newcomer Harold Fannin Jr. and second-year player Jamari Thrash in passing situations.

At 1-5 and searching for answers on both sides of the ball, the Browns now face the daunting task of regrouping while hoping Njoku’s injury isn’t as serious as feared. Cleveland’s next test comes against the Cincinnati Bengals — and their season might hang in the balance.
