Ex Cowboys Pro Bowler Suffers Major Knee Injury

Former Cowboys center Tyler Biadasz faces an uncertain future after a serious knee injury delivers a major blow to the Chargers offensive line.

The Dallas Cowboys aren’t dealing with the injury themselves, but Cowboys fans will immediately recognize the name at the center of one of the NFL’s more concerning preseason developments.

Former Dallas center Tyler Biadasz is reportedly out indefinitely after suffering significant damage to his left knee during the Los Angeles Chargers’ joint practice with the San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday.

Biadasz reportedly sustained damage to his ACL along with additional injuries to the knee, leaving the Chargers waiting for more medical opinions before determining exactly what comes next.

That’s a brutal development for a player whose NFL career was built in Dallas.

The Cowboys selected Biadasz in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, and he quickly developed into one of the more reliable pieces of Dallas’ offensive line. By 2022, he had become a Pro Bowl center while snapping the football to Dak Prescott and helping anchor an offense that consistently leaned on its offensive line.

Biadasz eventually left Dallas after the 2023 season and signed with Washington, where he started 31 games across two seasons for the Commanders.

This offseason brought another major move.

Los Angeles signed the veteran center to a three-year, $30 million contract in March with the expectation that he would stabilize the middle of the Chargers’ offensive line. Instead, the franchise is now staring at the possibility of beginning the season without one of its biggest offseason investments.

The Chargers confirmed that Biadasz underwent imaging following Tuesday’s injury and is seeking additional medical opinions.

For Cowboys fans, there’s also an interesting reminder buried inside the bad news.

Dallas has spent years reshaping an offensive line that once featured names like Zack Martin, Tyron Smith and Biadasz. Players move on quickly in the NFL, but injuries like this reinforce just how difficult it is to find — and keep — dependable offensive linemen.

Biadasz wasn’t always considered the biggest star on those Cowboys lines, but he became a durable starter and eventually earned Pro Bowl recognition. That’s exactly why Los Angeles was willing to hand him a $30 million deal.

Now everything is on hold.

The hope is that the additional evaluations deliver better news than initially feared. But with ACL damage already being reported, the Chargers may suddenly have a major problem in the middle of their offensive line before the regular season has even begun.

And for Cowboys fans who watched Biadasz develop from a fourth-round pick into a Pro Bowler, it’s another reminder of how quickly an NFL season — and a player’s career trajectory — can change on a single practice snap.
