John Deere Classic Set For Wild Glover-Hodges Finish

The John Deere Classic leaderboard is stacked, loud and ready to explode. Lucas Glover and Lee Hodges enter Sunday tied at 16-under 197, but this is no two-man stroll through TPC Deere Run. With 16 players sitting within five shots, the final round has all the ingredients for a chaotic PGA Tour finish packed with birdies, pressure and big-name drama.

Glover has been the steady hand all week. The 46-year-old former U.S. Open champion has either owned or shared the lead since Thursday, and he knows exactly what this course demands. At TPC Deere Run, safe golf rarely survives. Players have to fire at pins, take chances and keep stacking red numbers.

That’s especially true with Hodges right beside him. The 31-year-old Alabama native already owns a PGA Tour win, taking the 2023 3M Open, but this Sunday sets up differently. Instead of protecting a big cushion, Hodges gets to chase, attack and try to win a sprint against a crowded field.

And crowded might be underselling it.

Jackson Suber, Ben Kohles and Zac Blair are just one shot back at 15-under. Doug Ghim sits two behind. Zach Johnson, the 2021 Ryder Cup captain and 2012 John Deere Classic champion, is lurking at 13-under and trying to become one of the rare over-50 winners in PGA Tour history.

Then come the headline-grabbers.

Preston Stout, the reigning NCAA champion and top-ranked amateur, is at 12-under after a sharp third-round 66. The Oklahoma State star has a chance to do something almost unheard of: win on the PGA Tour as an amateur. Only eight amateurs have done it, and Stout now has a real shot to join that club.

Max Homa and Rickie Fowler are also in that 12-under group, giving Sunday extra star power. Both have won six times on the PGA Tour, and both know how quickly TPC Deere Run can flip from comfortable to crazy.

At 11-under, Chris Gotterup and Blades Brown remain dangerous. Gotterup entered the week as the highest-ranked player in the field at No. 14 in the Official World Golf Ranking. Brown, only 19, is chasing history of his own. A victory would make him just the sixth teenager to win on the PGA Tour and the first since Jordan Spieth broke through at this same tournament in 2013.

Ryo Hisatsune is the lone international player in the top-heavy chase pack, and he’s not just hanging around. The Japanese standout has four top-10 finishes in 2026 and came into the week sitting 43rd in the FedExCup standings. Another big Sunday could push him even higher.

For Glover and Hodges, the stakes go beyond the trophy. Both entered the week outside comfortable playoff position, with Glover at No. 119 and Hodges at No. 123 in the FedExCup race. A win would change everything.

That’s what makes Sunday at the John Deere Classic so dangerous. It isn’t just about who starts in front. It’s about who’s fearless enough to keep attacking when birdies are flying everywhere.

Glover has the résumé. Hodges has the hunger. Johnson has the local magic. Stout has the amateur dream. Brown has the teenage lightning.

Now TPC Deere Run gets one final round to decide who’s still standing.
