2 Major College Football Coaches Unsurprisingly Fired After Just 3 Weeks

We’re just three weeks into the 2025 college football season, and heads are already rolling.

We’ve had instant classics and we’ve had our fair share of embarrassments, and on Sept. 14 of the young season, two major programs are making changes. ESPN college football insider Pete Thamel reported that UCLA is parting ways with DeShaun Foster and Virginia Tech is firing Brent Pry.

The Bruins are 0-3 coming off Saturday’s loss to New Mexico in front of a sparse crowd at the Rose Bowl. Foster’s teams have lost three games by a combined score of 108-43. The Hokies are also winless and fresh off a 45-26 drubbing by Old Dominion at home. Virginia Tech has lost its three games by a combined score of 113-57. Neither team has been competitive in any of its games this season.

“Virginia Tech plans to fire coach Brent Pry today. He’s gone 16-24 through four seasons and started this year 0-3. He’s set to be owed more than $6 million in buyout,” Thamel reported of Virginia Tech’s move. “UCLA has fired coach DeShaun Foster. He started his second season there 0-3.”

Announcements from both programs are expected to come either Sunday afternoon or Monday morning.
