Ohio State opens the 2026 season against Ball State with Jeremiah Smith, Julian Sayin, Legend Bey and Chris Henry Jr. all in the spotlight — and Texas waiting immediately in Week 2.

Jeff “Tito” Thitoff breaks down what he wants to see from the Buckeyes in the opener, including the offensive tempo under Arthur Miller, the backup quarterback battle between Tavien St. Clair and Luke Fahey, and how Ryan Day plans to use freshman playmakers like Legend Bey and Chris Henry Jr.

There’s also plenty to watch on defense, where Ohio State is replacing a major chunk of last year’s production and breaking in new faces across the unit. With the Buckeyes favored by more than 50 points, the real question isn’t whether they win — it’s how sharp they look before the schedule gets serious.

Tito also gets into Jim Tressel’s Ring of Honor recognition, Maurice Clarett’s pregame role, the early Heisman campaigns for Jeremiah Smith and Julian Sayin, and the wider college football chaos surrounding LSU, the SEC and eligibility questions involving former NFL players.

Plus: Rutgers’ stunning loss to UMass, Colorado’s win over Georgia Tech, Toledo-Michigan State and other Week 1 storylines.
