Extensive damage to buildings was recorded in Boulder County, Colorado on Friday, December 31, a day after wind-blown fires grew to thousands of acres and burned down hundreds of homes.

The largest of the fires, the Marshall Fire, grew to an estimated 6,200 acres but was dampened with the help of snowfall in the area. According to authorities, the fire may have destroyed as many as 1,000 homes.
