About this episode

🚨 TEXAS TECH WON — BUT DID TOMMY CASTELLANOS EXPOSE AN EVEN BIGGER QUARTERBACK PROBLEM?

Texas Tech defeated No. 22 Arizona 34-26, but Tommy Castellanos' performance in his first start over Will Hammond has Red Raider Nation facing a HUGE question: Can Texas Tech win the Big 12 with a quarterback who struggles to throw the football?

On this episode of RED RAIDERS DAILY BLITZ, IndyCarTim breaks down Joey McGuire's controversial QB change, Castellanos' impressive rushing performance, his troubling passing numbers, and why offensive coordinator Mack Leftwich might need to completely rebuild the Red Raiders' offensive approach.

🏈 THE NUMBERS TELL TWO DIFFERENT STORIES:

🔴 Tommy Castellanos: 11-of-24 passing, 144 yards, 2 TDs

🔴 Passing completion rate: Just 45.8 percent

🔴 Castellanos: 117 rushing yards and a rushing TD

🔴 J'Koby Williams: 175 rushing yards

🔴 Texas Tech: 332 total rushing yards

🔴 FINAL: Texas Tech 34, Arizona 26

🔥 TODAY'S BIGGEST QUESTIONS:

✅ Was benching Will Hammond the right decision?

✅ Why was Castellanos so ineffective throwing the football?

✅ Can Texas Tech survive against elite defenses with a run-first quarterback?

✅ Does Mack Leftwich need to redesign the entire offense?

✅ Should Tech feature more zone reads, QB runs, RPOs and play-action?

✅ What happens when opponents force Castellanos to win from the pocket?

✅ Is Castellanos really the long-term answer at QB1?

Texas Tech is 7-1 and still chasing a Big 12 championship and College Football Playoff berth. But if the Red Raiders are going to reach those goals, they must figure out whether Castellanos can become a complete quarterback — or whether the offense needs to be built entirely around his legs.
