Luke Voit in road greys -- 2021 debut

Luke Voit in road greys — 2021 debut

If all went well this past week in his rehab assignment, Luke Voit was going to head back to the Yankees. Mission accomplished.

The team announced Tuesday that Voit was being activated off the IL to rejoin his teammates before the Kansas City Royals series.

Right after returning from meniscus surgery rehab, Voit went down with a Grade 2 oblique strain.

Now he returns to a different Yankees squad than when he left. They’ve won five of their last six games heading into this series, and Voit’s power bat could help them out even more.

That’s if it returns to its normal self.

In his limited time this season, Voit is only 8-for-44 with a homer and five RBI. He struggled to find anything at the plate, though the oblique injury didn’t help matters.

He’ll look for some redemption, and more importantly, more consistent healthy play this time around.
