Two of the last four seasons saw the Wisconsin Badgers compete in a New Year’s Six bowl game, finish among the top of the nation’s best teams.

2018 and 2020 were the near-opposite story, the Badgers struggling during the regular season and finding themselves in lower-end bowl contests. A bowl win is a bowl win, though, and last year’s Duke’s Mayo Bowl victory was Wisconsin’s sixth bowl triumph in the last seven years.

The 2021 outlook for the Badgers is trending positively both in Madison and across the country. For proof, Sporting News’ recent bowl projection has Wisconsin heading back to the New Year’s Six.

The projected destination: the Rose Bowl against USC.

“USC and Wisconsin met in the Rose Bowl in 1953 and 1963, and this matches up the Pac-12 champion against the Big Ten runner-up. Kedon Slovis and Graham Mertz make it an intriguing matchup, but with these teams is comes down to who can the ball. It will be nice to have the Tournament of Roses Parade back, too.”
